Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Cuizine ("Cuizine," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our website and iOS app (together, the "Service"). It applies to both surfaces — we use the same practices across web and mobile.

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address and name, used to create and manage your account.
• Dietary & health-related preferences — dietary restrictions, food allergies, daily calorie goals, and health goals you provide during onboarding or in settings. This is sensitive information; we use it only to personalize recipes and keep generated meals within your stated constraints.
• Content you create — recipes you generate or save, meal plans, shopping lists, pantry items, ratings, and reviews.
• Photos you upload — images of cooked dishes or pantry items you choose to add.
• Voice input (Cook Mode) — if you use the hands-free voice Cook Mode assistant ("Amelia") in the iOS app, your device's microphone captures spoken commands and questions. Speech is converted to text on your device; we do not receive or store your audio. See "Voice Cook Mode" below.
• Calorie & nutrition tracking (iOS) — if you log meals or water in the iOS app's tracker, we store the calories, macros, and water amounts you log, and write that same data to Apple Health only if you turn that sync on. This is write-only: we never read your existing Apple Health data. See "Calorie & Nutrition Tracker" below.
• Usage data — basic product-analytics events (features used, errors) to operate and improve the Service. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and the iOS app contains no advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.

How we use your information

• To provide, maintain, and secure the Service.
• To personalize recipe and meal-plan generation around your dietary preferences, allergies, and goals.
• To process subscriptions and send service-related email.
• To diagnose problems and improve the product.

AI generation. When you generate a recipe or meal plan, the prompt we send to our AI model provider includes the relevant preferences you've set — including dietary restrictions and allergies — so the output respects them. That data is processed by our model provider solely to return your result.

Voice Cook Mode (Amelia)

The iOS app includes an optional hands-free voice assistant ("Amelia") for cooking. When you start a voice Cook Mode session, the app uses your microphone and Apple's on-device Speech framework to transcribe what you say into text on your device. Your audio is never stored or sent to Cuizine's servers. Voice commands such as "next step" or "start timer" are handled entirely on your device. If you ask Amelia a cooking question, only the resulting text is sent to our AI model provider to generate an answer. You can use Cook Mode without voice, and the microphone is active only while a voice session is running.

Calorie & Nutrition Tracker

The iOS app includes an optional calorie and nutrition tracker. When you log a meal or water intake, we store the amounts you log (or that you confirm from a barcode scan or recipe) to show your daily totals and progress toward your goals. If you enable Apple Health sync, we write your logged entries to Apple Health — we do not read any existing data from your Apple Health store. Calorie and macro estimates (including those from barcode-scanned products and AI-generated recipes) may be inaccurate or incomplete. The tracker is not a medical device and does not provide medical or nutritional advice; if you are managing a medical condition or specific health goal, consult a qualified professional before relying on it.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers ("subprocessors") that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of it:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
• Stripe — payment and subscription processing.
• Railway & Vercel — application hosting.
• PostHog — product analytics.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Our AI model provider — to generate recipes and meal plans from your prompts.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.

Your choices and rights

• Access & deletion. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing us. Deletion removes your profile, recipes, meal plans, lists, pantry, and uploaded photos.
• California (CCPA/CPRA). California residents have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise your rights, contact us.
• EU/UK (GDPR). Where applicable, you have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, and to object to processing.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport and secure credential storage. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take additional steps as required by law.
